![]() ![]() Obviously cooler environments and operating scenarios permit more Turbo Boost power. This Turbo Boost feature depends on thermal headroom - the ability to heat up without getting too hot. There's a nominal clock rate of 1.33 Ghz with stepping down to 800 Mhz and up to 1.83 Ghz when needed and possible. The Intel Z3735F is a quad-core CPU processor with integrated graphics and video decode/encode hardware. You could also open the back of the keyboard and put plasticine or similar in to make the base more stable. It's particularly noticeable when 'lapping' but should be less noticeable on models with an included hard drive. 'Tent' mode is also possible but the unit will slip around on its hard plastic edges if you place it on a low-friction surface.Īs with the original Switch 10 there's a tipping point. Remember that this isn't a 360-degree rotating hinge and can't lay flat with the keyboard but the stand mode, an important one, is there. The docking mechanism feels better than the original Switch 10 dock with strong magnets keeping things stable with the screen pointing towards or away from the keyboard. A slightly raised edge around the screen doesn't feel great but it's a good friction-point for holding the device. In terms of ergonomics the rounded corners and again, light weight (630 grams) make it easy to hold. Our is 'Shark Grey' but there are a number of other colors available. We didn't open it up to look for expansion ports though. The rear of the keyboard feels especially empty but it's light and likely to have a hard-drive inside some versions. Hard plastics with a hollow sound and a cheap looking pattern effect extend all round the outside of the tablet and keyboard segments. Dimensions: 258 x 172.6 x 10.As one might expect on an entry-level PC the quality of the case gives it away.Audio: Built-in stereo speakers and microphone.Connectivity: 1 x mini-HDMI, 1 x micro-USB, 1 x microSD slot.Networking: Integrated 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0.Display: 10.1-inch 16:9 IPS HD (1280 x 800) with 10 point multi-touchscreen.Processor: Intel Bay Trail-T Quad Core Z3735F up to 1.83 GHz processor.Measuring 258 x 172.6 x 10.5mm (H x W x D), it comes in slimmer and not as wide as the Microsoft Surface Pro 2, albeit packing considerably less punch. It may not be the thinnest tablet, or have the smallest bezels surrounding its 10.1-inch screen, but the Linx 10 still feels relatively compact, and is far from the chunkiest 10.1-inch Windows tablet around. Still, small niggles aside, the Linx 10 is a well-designed – but not particularly inspired – budget tablet. In the top left corner, two speaker grilles give away the positioning of the stereo speakers – an odd placement that is surely limited by the internal hardware, as they would have been much more welcome spaced further apart – or even up front instead. The Linx logo takes pride of place in the centre, with a 2MP camera just offset to the right. Turn the tablet round and you'll find a rear with the same rubberised plastic that is often used on slightly more premium devices which feels tactile, and not too slippy. The buttons aren't as nicely designed as with the Linx 8 Next to the camera is a small red LED which does little more than light up when you turn on the tablet, and indicates when the front-facing camera is in operation. The front of the tablet is fairly non-descript: there's simply a capacitive Windows button centred below the screen, and a 2MP front-facing camera above it. Paired with the optional keyboard case which conveniently docks onto the foot of the tablet and holds it upright with an ingenious folding rear flap, this 10-inch variant of the Linx is most definitely an adequate replacement for the netbooks which were once so popular. Setting yourself apart from the rest is a difficult task in the overly saturated tablet market, especially when there are identical counterparts sold under other brands, but that doesn't mean the Linx 10 isn't a robustly put together bit of kit.Īpart from a small amount of give in the chassis on the left-hand side where all the ports are situated, the Linx 10 feels solid and doesn't give off the vibe of a budget tablet. There's an optional keyboard case which docks to the bottom of the slate Design
